As part of our larger "Sleepy Lizard Project" investigating seasonal thermoregulatory behavior in American green anoles across their entire range, our Stroud Lab team kicked off the season with a whopping 57 lizards last night!

Presentation at the Packard Foundation annual meeting

James presented at his first Packard Foundation annual meeting, telling everyone all about the science we have done (and plan to do) on Lizard Island! The meeting was inside the beautiful Monterey Bay Aquarium, and all of the talks were spectacular.

Georgia Tech funds our wearable sensor program

A new Georgia Tech award supports the next phase of our ultra-light wearable sensor work, with colleagues Dr. Ben Freeman and Dr. Emily Weigl in the School of Biological Sciences. The sensors let us track movement, behavior, physiology, and interactions of lots of animals on campus, from butterflies to lizards to birds!

Simons Foundation Graduate Fellowship in Ecology and Evolution

The Simons Foundation has funded Emma Glenn with a Fellowship in Ecology and Evolution, following a successful selection of Emma's research proposal Acclimation and adaptation: rapid physiological responses to the climate crisis. Congratulations, Emma!

Guille Garcia-Costoya joins the lab

Guillermo (Guille) Garcia-Costoya has joined as a postdoctoral fellow. Welcome, Guille!

Bicentenary Medal, Linnean Society of London

James has been awarded the Linnean Society's Bicentenary Medal, given to an early-career scientist in recognition of excellent research in the natural sciences.

Atwood Rising Star in Evolution, University of Toronto

James was named an Atwood Rising Star in Evolution and gave the accompanying lecture at the University of Toronto.

Packard Fellowship in Science and Engineering

James has been awarded a Packard Fellowship for Revealing evolution's hidden pathways: how behavior shapes natural selection. The fellowship provides $875,000 over five years.

Three-legged lizards make the front page of the New York Times

Our study of lizards surviving and reproducing on three legs ran in The American Naturalist and on the front page of the New York Times print edition. Forty-eight authors contributed observations from field sites across the Caribbean and beyond.

The Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation has recognized the lab's long-term field work with a $100,000 Award in Field Biology.
